Avast, Me Hearties, and Welcome aboard the SS Revenge!
I am your humble and seafaring Captain, Hurricane Andrew!
These here boards here will serve as a place for all of us to come together - a new prize in a new port o call. If you know of a displaced member of the Social Satellite crowd lookin to find us travelling folk, do direct them here, if you would be so kind.
So, dust the place off, make yerselves a bunk and don't forget to snuff the lamplight when you disembark.

Alright, so what is the SS Revenge and what was Social Satellite?
To answer the first question, I must start with the 2nd one.
What was Social Satellite?
Social Satellite was a phenominal weblog community run by two fabulously awesome women from Chicago, IL who went by the names VelvetTiger and MissFriend. They're still fabulously awesome, despite the fact that Social Satellite ended its run on St. Patrick's Day in 2007.
But the rest of us posters were temporarily left without a home.
Clearly, as "Captain" of this here "vessel," one could infer that I thought it a good idea to keep people together as well as one could hope to do after the demise of the old board.
And so, I've created this forum here to keep up the most used portions of the old site.
We owe a debt of gratitude to VT and MissFriend, who brought together the most awesome of the awesome all in one place. This new board can only hope to be half as successful as the last.
So then...
What is the S.S. Revenge?
It's a resource initially designed to regather the fine folks who posted content every day to Social Satellite. To keep us all in touch, to make snarky comments to one another about the day's news, to argue when arguments are necessary to advance discussion, to keep each other posted about the most significant life events coming up, and to continue to communicate with the most awesome of the awesome.
New members are always welcome. Contribute, communicate, conspire...
But most of all, enjoy good company.

In the course of dusting off the cobwebs and preparing for new visitors to the site, I've edited a few of our Welcome messages. Always gotta scrub off the barnacles when the ship is brought into port.
